Junior Operator - Abnormal Loads - UK based

The Company

ALS is a specialist logistics provider offering unique solutions for oversized, abnormal and heavy lift cargo shipments by road, rail, sea and air both nationally and internationally.

The Role

We currently have a vacancy for a Junior Operator - abnormal loads.

You will be working within a team within the operations department located in the Hull office.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the transportation of goods and equipment as requested by contractors
  • Receiving/processing enquiries
  • Quoting clients
  • Preparing orders and placing bookings
  • Arranging permits
  • Delivery confirmations
  • Invoicing

The Candidate

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Qualifications: educated to A-level minimum
  • Determination to build a successful career in logistics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Skills/experience:

  • Experience in transportation advantageous

Role:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key account customers
  • Negotiate and accept orders from established customers
  • Book transports to clients requirements
  • Put all support activities in place (documents etc)
  • Monitor progress, keeping customers informed and resolve any issues
  • Invoicing

The Candidate

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Minimum five years' experience in the movement of abnormal loads in the UK and Europe
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and within a team

  • Generate new sales enquiries from new markets/clients
